SPANISH SINGLE CHARTS: OLIVIA RODRIGO'S 'DRIVERS LICENSE' ENTERS THE TOP 5 .

Image
On Wednesday, the Spanish single chart was updated and Olivia Rodrigo's Drivers License peaked at a new position: number 4, entering to the top five. Last week, it entered at number 10. This new peak is surprising; Long-awaited or viral songs which debut in their first week on the top 10, tend to drop out of it the next week.  It is also unexpected because its biggest streaming peak on Spotify was on January 12th (17 million streams),However, the song is rising now in Spain , where the Top 100 is mostly filled by reggaeton or trap tracks (like the rest of the top 10) , that truly reach some stability on the chart. International pop acts do not usually reach these high positions , like Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi (which is still charting but peaked on number 45), Positions (that peaked on number 23) or Harry Styles' Watermelon Sugar (peak position at number 43).  This is also happening to Spanish-pop artists (with the exceptions of Camilo and C Tangana), like Aitana,

LISTEN TO Five O Fives' NEW SINGLE, 'SOMETHING TO DO'.

The West Midlands band  released their first single last month and now they drop 'Something To Do' , their first track of the year. 'Something To Do' is a song about some party nights ,where you might drink too much and 'maybe regretting it a bit the next day'. The lyrics are sad but truly illustrative ' Feels like I've lost Another round ' /' The drinks aren't working anymore ' /' Each night here's left me black and blue ' .  However, the melody feels happy, joyful, and currently uplifting, leaving aside the concern and, even, the existentialism  of the lyrics.   It brings out youth's inocence of  unintended mistakes while swimming in doubt. The song will give you 90s or early 2000s nostalgia and will make you look back on those nights at bars or pubs , which seem so far these days . This is a great second move from the band, able to match strong feelings of sadness with delicious, pleasant and delightful melodies.

DISCOVER GRAYWAVE AND HER NEW SINGLE 'BEFORE'.

Image
After releasing her first single just a week ago 'Like Heaven' Graywave drops at midnight her second single ('Before') and part of her EP, 'Planetary Shift'. The goth rock spirit, with a contagious and great play of drums and guitars act as the background, covers and wraps every second of the track, making it dark. But this gloomy and dull sensation is soon swept by Graywave brave vocals, full of  angry, peaking in the last 40 seconds of the song, where she sings as a warrior, letting out all of her feelings. Listen to her last single, 'Like Heaven' :

MORGAN WALLEN 'DANGEROUS :THE DOUBLE ALBUM' REVIEW

Image
Morgan Wallen has released today his highly-anticipated album. The record, with 30 tracks, includes some of his hits, like ' 7 summers' or ' More Than My Hometown' . His new single, premiered yesterday with a live performance ,is 'Sand In My Boots' . It is the first song of the album and is one of the best. It addresses elements of country living  ( that will repeat along the record) in the background of a sweet  love story.  The project has got some songs that match the title and the subject of  it, the danger, like ' Warning' , ' Neon Eyes' or even  'Living The Dream'  . They pretend to feel dark and that is brought by some beats and a more close to rock sound, but it frecquently make the songs lose their country sound, with the exception of ' Outlaw ' (ft. Ben Burgess, who also is cowriter of some songs), with some word play ('It takes a hell of an angel'). The album succeeds in tender love songs like the mentioned

HARRY STYLES STARTS 2021 WITH 'TREAT PEOPLE WITH KINDNESS' VIDEO RELEASE.

Image
Harry Styles released yesterday the video for ' Treat People With Kindness', one of the most fan-loved songs of his album, F ine Line. The song title was one of the 'slogans' that hinted Harry's comeback with a great advertising campaign.  Starring Harry Styles and Fleabag series' creator and main actress, Phoebe Waller-Bridge , the video feels classic, shot in black and white, while shimmering and aparkling, delivering an optimistic message for 2021.

THE BEST ALBUMS OF 2020 (TOP FIVE)

Image
  1. Imploding The Mirage - The  Killers.  This album has an incredible way to capture immensity and euphoria (of finding trust, love and unavoidable faith), as it is shown in  the wild synths on My Own Soul's Warning (with Bruce Springsteen's influenced vocals) and Dying Breed . However, it is also able to draw peaceful joy , like in the serene 'Blowback'. The record is an enchantment and delight of finding a new way full of authentic feelings, excellently brought to music. Maybe that belief in authenticity and powerful love is what we needed this year.  2. Foolish Loving Spaces- Blossoms.  The Stockport band succeeds in their complete and finest analysis of love, which makes you swim through alt -rock ('Your Girlfriend' and 'Like Gravity') and pop perfection ('Oh No (I think I'm in Love)' and 'Swimming Brain') .  3 . After Hou rs-The Weeknd. An unexpected bet for pop without leaving R&B . His admiration for 80s pop came just in t

TRACK OF THE WEEK:CAROLINE POLACHEK - 'SO COLD YOU' RE HURTING MY FEELINGS '

Image
If you weren't feeling so Christmassy this year, Caroline Polachek and A. G. Cook are here to save your Christmas spirit just two days before Christmas Eve. Caroline didn't need to write a new song, she just adapted the lyrics to her hit 'So hot you' re hurting my feelings ' to  get' So cold you're hurting my feelings'. She is Mrs. Santa and is missing Santa while he is delivering presents around the world. The synths of the original version hinted the suitable jingle bells at the end of the song, creating 'Christmas on the dancefloor' vibe.

SONGS THAT WILL MAKE YOU CRY (TOP TEN)

Image
1.'She has no time'-KEANE:  Tim Rice-Oxley wrote this song to Keane's vocalist, Tom Chaplin, when he was fighting against unrequited love. Tom's vocals give you goosebumps as usual , but there is some disenchantment in his voice that will surely make you cry. 2. 'The River'-Bruce Springsteen: The song exudes sadness from the harmonica intro. The instrumental feels simple compared to his other songs. The storytelling lyrics are full of frankness and sincerity. The story of  the young couple having their dreams destroyed suffocated by life in a small town will definitely move you (' No wedding day smiles no walk down the aisle' //' No flowers no wedding dress').  3.'Ocean Eyes'-Billie Eilish:  A great way to show the fear of falling for someone through Billie's voice , full of vulnerability.   4,'Run'-JOJI:  Dive into  melancholy caused by an untrue relationship. Joji's vocals are sad and feel like he is crying out hopeles

KALI UCHIS 'SIN MIEDO (DEL AMOR Y OTROS DEMONIOS)' ALBUM REVIEW.

Image
Kali Uchis released on November 18th her second studio album, 'Sin Miedo (Del Amor y Otros Demonios)' , her first one almost completely in Spanish. Singing in Spanish and embracing her latin origins have always been present in her projects, as in Isolation , where she featured  Reykon for the track ' Nuestro Planeta'. The latin spin that fills up most of Kali's recent music was first shown on ' Solita', produced by the famous reggatón producer, Tainy  and not included on the album. Kali Uchis has been giving us clues since she covered Don Omar's  'Pobre Diabla' and La Lupe's 'Qué te pedí ', featured on the album. These covers show the two trends Kali is following on her latin pop view: Classic Reggaetón vibes and Latin Soul , approaching to more traditional latin music. The first track is ' La luna enamorada ', an unexpected bolero. Kali has been observing smartly her childhood tunes and latin music, and that is shown on this
