YNES - BETTER JOB, A SOCIAL HIT.

Back in October, the chancellor Rishi Sunak suggested that ' musicians and others in arts should retrain and find other jobs' . These generated a deserved reaction from music artists, ruined by the pandemic and the impossibility of doing live concerts . As Tim Burge ss properly said for The Guardian ' Sunak didn’t seem to take into account (...) that musicians and actors have been working other jobs for years – as baristas, chefs, roadies, graphic designers or bartenders, and in so many roles in the ironically named “gig” economy – to fill the time between, well, gigs'.  That is what Coventry singer and songwriter, YNES dennounces in her new song, 'Better Job'. The track sounds punk and , maybe,  there is no better genre for battling disappointment and impotence, asking for help for an industry that annually collects millions, but which is now defenceless, much more since UK's government Brexit deal. The irritation and anger in YNES voice make you touch teen

LISTEN TO Five O Fives' NEW SINGLE, 'SOMETHING TO DO'.

The West Midlands band  released their first single last month and now they drop 'Something To Do' , their first track of the year. 'Something To Do' is a song about some party nights ,where you might drink too much and 'maybe regretting it a bit the next day'. The lyrics are sad but truly illustrative ' Feels like I've lost Another round ' /' The drinks aren't working anymore ' /' Each night here's left me black and blue ' .  However, the melody feels happy, joyful, and currently uplifting, leaving aside the concern and, even, the existentialism  of the lyrics.   It brings out youth's inocence of  unintended mistakes while swimming in doubt. The song will give you 90s or early 2000s nostalgia and will make you look back on those nights at bars or pubs , which seem so far these days . This is a great second move from the band, able to match strong feelings of sadness with delicious, pleasant and delightful melodies.

DISCOVER GRAYWAVE AND HER NEW SINGLE 'BEFORE'.

Image
After releasing her first single just a week ago 'Like Heaven' Graywave drops at midnight her second single ('Before') and part of her EP, 'Planetary Shift'. The goth rock spirit, with a contagious and great play of drums and guitars act as the background, covers and wraps every second of the track, making it dark. But this gloomy and dull sensation is soon swept by Graywave brave vocals, full of  angry, peaking in the last 40 seconds of the song, where she sings as a warrior, letting out all of her feelings. Listen to her last single, 'Like Heaven' :

DISCOVER APOSTLES AND THEIR NEW SINGLE, 'WASTE A MOMENT'

Image
Last month Apostles released their second single, Goldrush, which follows up Waste A Moment. The Wigan band is preparing an EP and both singles were great samples to start paying attention to this emerging band. Waste A Moment is sparkling, joyful and set to make you jump and making you fly to your best trips memories. The song leaves you a positive vibe perfect to start the day. George Lyons' vocals are the perfect ingredient for a starting band. I am sure they will become pretty recognizable while the band keeps on growing. The track's spirit matches the artwork, colorful , mixing the blue morning sky with sunset colors. The second chapter is Goldrush , has got a little touch of sadness or disappointment, but as soon as the chorus starts you forget that and it becomes really energetic, even electric. There is also a great production on the song , with echoes to sing along to. Let's get ready for their EP!
