KALI UCHIS 'SIN MIEDO (DEL AMOR Y OTROS DEMONIOS)' ALBUM REVIEW.

Kali Uchis released on November 18th her second studio album, 'Sin Miedo (Del Amor y Otros Demonios)' , her first one almost completely in Spanish. Singing in Spanish and embracing her latin origins have always been present in her projects, as in Isolation, where she featured  Reykon for the track 'Nuestro Planeta'.

The latin spin that fills up most of Kali's recent music was first shown on 'Solita', produced by the famous reggatón producer, Tainy  and not included on the album. Kali Uchis has been giving us clues since she covered Don Omar's 'Pobre Diabla' and La Lupe's 'Qué te pedí', featured on the album. These covers show the two trends Kali is following on her latin pop view: Classic Reggaetón vibes and Latin Soul , approaching to more traditional latin music.

The first track is 'La luna enamorada', an unexpected bolero. Kali has been observing smartly her childhood tunes and latin music, and that is shown on this song. It sounds pleasant, starting with soft, sweet vocals and then, the lower pitch vocals are delivered in a careful and sutile way. The lyrics are poetic as never before, with beautiful metaphors, and her vocal range's growth is notable. This is a sign of evolution into technical perfection (her incredible high-pitch on 'fue mejor' or on 'vaya con dios').

Kali shines when she explores her latin jazz and neo-soul side, like in 'vaya con dios' and 'quiero sentirme bien'.
She just not delves into latin music, she is heavily betting for Spanish R&B, a genre which is usually disregarded, even commercially , like in 'Aquí Yo Mando' (ft.Rico Nasty) or 'de nadie'

The lyrics reference sex, frecquently as it is common in Reggaetón or the urban genre. She talks sassy as in 'telepatía' and 'La luz' (ft.Jhay Cortez). This is one of the features of the album; the other one is featuring old-school reggaeton duo Jowell & Randy. She is bringing back the reggeton she used to listen when she was a child.

The record finishes as it started with Kali's amazing voice improvement on her lower pitch and a charming guitar that matches with the anguish on her voice.

Everything is surrounded by dreamy and full of fantasy production, that takes you to another world, Kali's world. The album comes in the right moment, with latin artitsts as Bad Bunny , ruling USA's Charts. This week Bad Bunny scored his first number one on Billboard 200 for his album 'El Último Tour del Mundo'. This is the first time an album in Spanish reaches that milestone. Kali is proving her worth with this risky second album. She is totally unafraid of having a great plot twist in her career. Even for her English-speakers fans , she remains the same R&B/Neo-Soul touch that dazzled us  in Isolation.
