MORGAN WALLEN 'DANGEROUS :THE DOUBLE ALBUM' REVIEW

Morgan Wallen has released today his highly-anticipated album. The record, with 30 tracks, includes some of his hits, like '7 summers' or 'More Than My Hometown' .

His new single, premiered yesterday with a live performance ,is 'Sand In My Boots' . It is the first song of the album and is one of the best. It addresses elements of country living  ( that will repeat along the record) in the background of a sweet  love story.

The project has got some songs that match the title and the subject of  it, the danger, like 'Warning', 'Neon Eyes' or even 'Living The Dream' . They pretend to feel dark and that is brought by some beats and a more close to rock sound, but it frecquently make the songs lose their country sound, with the exception of 'Outlaw' (ft. Ben Burgess, who also is cowriter of some songs), with some word play ('It takes a hell of an angel').

The album succeeds in tender love songs like the mentioned single 'Sand In My Boots', 'More Surprised Than Me',  or 'Wondering Bout The Wind' .The Chris Stapleton feature, with vocals full of pain and heartbreak, connects  the two most famous voices of country music right now.

The second side of the album includes the title track, which leaves all of the darkness of the supposed danger. However, this side is also filled with songs closer to the  bro-country era , like 'Somethin' Country'(which surely will bring you back to 2013's country), 'Still Going Down' (which opens the side , proves Morgan still country and introduces the topics of it ), 'Country A$$ Shit' and 'Watcha Think Of Country Now', that sounds very Florida Georgia Line and relates with his 'Up Down' hit.

Despite these songs, the album ends with a good taste in the mouth, with the funny and more classic 'Need A Boat', the storyteller Silverado ('Silverado For Sale') , one of his most personal songs ('Living The Dream') and , finally,  the song written by Eric Church , 'Quittin' Time', peaceful, with the beauty on Morgan's voice and the guitar.

The album shines when he concentrates on feelings and leaves all  the country clichés when they are not added as something natural , like something lived to the story. It was that choice of  Jason Isbell's 'Cover Me Up' as a single which made everyone take a second look to Morgan Wallen and what  has set him apart from other country mainstream artists and from his first hit ('Up Down' ft Florida Georgia Line). The long extension does not benefit the record, with some songs sounding sometimes monotonous.
