GRAMMYS BLESS BEYONCÉ AND TAYLOR SWIFT, SNUB THE WEEKND, SUMMER WALKER AND LUKE COMBS.

2021 Grammy nominations have been announced. Beyoncé is the most nominated artist this year for the unnoticed Black Parade and for her film for The Lion King:The Gift. There are big snubs like The Weeknd, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Summer Walker and more.

Let's get into it !

1. Grammys do not know how to classify songs with trapbeats sang by pop singers. It happened with Ariana Grande's  7 rings, nominated last year for Best Pop Solo Performance and it is  the same with Yummy and Changes. Do you remember the tweets talking bout 'R&Bieber' and that it was like a Chris Brown song? Well, for the Academy is totally pop. Grammys just do not know how to classify the plenty of songs that top the charts and that have mix trap with pop or that are simply trap. I guess The Academy is trying to nominate the new direction of pop music, but forgetting, for example, 80s influenced tracks, as The Weeknd synths tracks 'Blinding Lights'.

2. The Weeknd snub: If there is an artist that has been topping the charts throughout the whole year it has been The Weeknd. His music seems unclassifiable: His album, which I think deserved 'Album of The Year' as well as a Song of The Year nom for 'Blinding Lights', contains R&B tracks and pop tracks. This mix was patent in Starboy and the record got snubbed too, only taking home the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album. It seems that The Academy wants to categorize him in R&B, but it just can't!

3. BTS is nominated for the first time: The Academy surrender to BTS. Again, Grammys were not prepared for this: Grammys had to think if they will nominate K-POP or not and BTS-Army was pushing hard on social media to get it (I do not consider the nomination for best package). The question is if Grammys must consider K-POP when it disregards UK hip-hop or R&B, for example? Are we into a new consideration of Boy/Girl Bands?Do you imagine getting Spice Girls nominated and they got to the top of Billboard Hot 100 with 'Wannabe'? Well, I guess the solution is including BTS into the group of boys/girl bands that have got nominated like NSYNC or Destiny's Child.

4. Jhene Aiko's CHILOMBO gets unexpected recognition earning a nom for Album of The Year: I thought the album was going to be nominated in the 'Best Progressive R&B Album',as it does. In this category there are surprises which I really enjoy like Thundercat and Free Nationals noms , but they snubbed completely Summer Walker 'Over it'. A great surprise was to find Jacob Collier, Ty Dolla Sign and Mahalia's All I Need is shortlisted for 'Best R&B Performance'.

5. ONE DAY / UN DÍA gets nominated as 'Best Pop/Duo Group Performance' . I have been reading some articles which suggest Grammys and Latin Grammys should be unified into just one award show, but I think that in case that happens, they should look to all the complexity of genres and styles that is behind latin music, not only Urban/Reggaeton music.

6. Beyoncé and Taylor Swift get blessed by The Academy. Beyoncé is nominated for Savage (remix), her fashion film and the unnoticed Black Parade. It is incredible the up-and-down relationship between The Carters and The Academy. Sometimes you get snubbed, anothers you get overnominated....Taylor Swift's Flolklore is shortlisted, even the initial controversy that thought it maybe was going to get snubbed and even it was the chance for Taylor to leave the pop category , but it was not! It is nominated for best Pop Album too.

7. Dua Lipa and Harry Styles get nominated:Dua gets nominations for Don't Start Now but Physical is disregarded, despite being considered one of the best songs of the year by Billboard. Fine Line could have earned an Album of the Year nom. For me both artists represent a truly bet for pop, instrumental pop , even if it is with  samples from 80s hits.

8. Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs snub: Yes , the most famous emerging country artists are disregarded. Luke Combs' debut album and 'Even Though I'm Leaving' should have been nominated and Morgan Wallen's 7 summers was a really good option between country and pop. Instead , they have nominated Dan +Shay and Justin Bieber in country categories, which is absolutely pop, more than Tequila. They also nominated The Bones by Maren Morris , which is a beautiful song , but I would have nominated it in Best Solo Pop Performance. Good news come from the Eric Church nomination for 'Stick that in your country song', Ingrid Andress and Miranda Lambert's Bluebird recognition, reigning back again. They could have also considered Carly Pearce or Jon Pardi.

9. Surprises:Phoebe Bridgers gets shortlisted, Laura Marling and Michael Kiwanuka do too! Kali Uchis is again nominated for a featured track, this time with KAYTRANADA. Kelsea Ballerini and Sam Hunt are not nominated as it was used to in country categories.

10.The best New artist category recognizes Noah Cyrus surprisingly.

11.Grammys takes part and shorlists songs related with anti-racism like Beyonce's Black Parade, H. E.R's I Can't Breathe and regard Mickey Guyton.

12.Women reign in Best a rock Performance. All the nominees are women, for the first time in this category.
