ITALIAN SINGLES CHART: TANANAI AND MANESKIN ARE BACK WITH BALLADS

Both Maneskin and Tananai have returned with new singles this October and we couldn't finish the month without talking about them:

Tananai released an unexpected ballad a few weeks ago, 'ABISSALE' as a single. It is surprising because, as I said in my previous post about the Italian artist, he usually includes some humor in his songs and in his videos, but in Abissale there is not a trace. The single comes after releasing 'Pasta' and reigning on the Italian chart throughout the summer with Fedez and Mara Sattei on 'Dolce Vita'.

Abissale is an honest, heartfelt piece reminiscent of 2000s Italian balladry and Italian cantautori genre, tapping into Tananai's gruff voice. In it, he talks about how special the girl he is in love with is and how he has tried to be special to be by her side, but he has not succeeded. The text is simple but very poetic , framed by that negative sky that appears on the single’s artwork. The video, directed by Borotalco, is full of dramatism, which we are not used to see in Tananai and which turns the Italian streets into the perfect setting for a great performance.

On the other hand, Maneskin returns after some more disperse singles, in English, very danceable, and driven to American radio stations, which they described ,in an interview for RTL 102.5 when talking about MAMMAMIA ,as 'musica leggera'. Now, with The loneliest ,they point towards their new album that will contain songs in Italian and others in English, written with more artists and producers such as Ryan Tedder or MNEK, who appears as writer of the track. It is not surprising that they try to recall the spirt of the rock power ballad of the 90s, considering that the first album that Damiano bought was from Aerosmith. The loneliest gets right the percussion of the ballad with heartfelt lyrics that focus back on feeling and that is enphasized byThomas' guitar solo -which is the one that is incorporated to Le parole lontane in concerts- and by Damiano's raspy voice.
