SANREMO 2022- FINALE REVIEW

The Sanremo Finale had place yesterday to close this intense week of performances, bets and hopes.

La quinta serata consisted in every contestant singing their song, while the spectators could vote at home. This votes would be sum up to the general ranking product of the rest of the nights. The finale and la serata cover (where every singer had to cover a hit from the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s) didn't modify much the general ranking of the first three nights: Ana Mena only moved one place forward from the first night, letting Tananai in the last place and the podium kept the same (the obvious winners Mahmood & Blanco, Elisa and Gianni Morandi). We could say the same for Irama, who scored a secure forth place and his highest position with Ovunque Sarai.

The contestants tried their best in the finale, with a lot of them moving around the stage or going to the box and asking the audience to participate in their performances. Some pronounced speeches to complete the whole meaning of the song and the performance.

The classification contrasts with the Spotify Top 50 songs of the country: Rkomi's Insuperabile holds the second place while he hasn't pleased much the critics and the festival and Ana Mena's Duecentomila ore is #16 today after being in the top 10 days ago.

As we see on Italy's Spotify, the Sanremo Festival still has big repercussion. Every gala has set records in viewers. The finale was watched by 13 million people (64,9 % share), consolidating as one of the biggest song contests and a success for the host, Amadeus.

The Festival had time to remember Italian icons and yesterday was the moment to pay tribute to Raffaella Carrá through a dance show emulating her iconic hairstyle, hits and dancemoves.

To end this review, let's remember 3 memorable moments of this years's Sanremo:

1. Cesare Cremonini performing a medley of his hits: The Lùnapop ex-vocalist performed a medley of his hits to celebrate his 20 years of his solo career and sang his new single, La Ragazza Del Futuro. The result was a masterclass of ease, confidence and control at the stage.

2.La serata cover of Gianni Morandi and Jovanotti:It's been a great Sanremo for Gianni Morandi and la serata cover was no exception. Everyone knew that he would be performing a medley of his hits that night. Secretly, Gianni decided he wasn't singing alone, something Amadeus got to know almost 2 days before the gala. The guest was the rapper, songwriter and DJ Jovanotti. The duo delivered one of the most entertaining performances of the night, which made Gianni win the serata cover.

3. Irama sang La mia storia tra le ditta with Gianluca Grignani: It was known that Irama would bring to the stage  a guest for la serata cover (this time long in advance) and that it was Gianluca Grignani, one of the most famous Italian songwriters of the mid-90s to perform the smash hit La mia storia tra le dita. However, there were some rumours surrounding Grignani's appeareance: Was he going to finally come to Sanremo? Would they sing La mia storia tra le dita or Destinazione Paradiso? (which Grignani performed at the Festival back in 1995). Everything calmed down when Grignani got on stage with Irama, but not for long. Around minute 2:30, Grignani started to encourage the audience to sing along and invading the box, letting Irama carrying alone the song and the melody. Despite this,  Gianluca made the audience be a part of the performance, making the audience seem alive for a minute ,where spontaneity reigned.
