RKOMI GOES ALT-ROCK WITH HIS SINGLE 'PARTIRE DA TE'.

Italian rapper Rkomi dropped his third studio album, Taxi Driver, in April. Inspired by the Martin Scorsese film, the album is certified double platinum in Italy and Rkomi has reached  number one in the singles chart, with 'NUOVO RANGE' (ft Sfera Ebbasta). The album includes fourteen tracks and ten of them are featurings.

Rkomi recruits a great line-up of Italian pop, from his frequent collaborator Ernia to Irama and Italy's King of trap, Sfera Ebbasta.

Today I am going to focus on one track that isn't a feature, 'PARTIRE DA TE'. It probably is the piece with the biggest rock sound on the record. Since the beginning, the alt -rock electric guitar riff captivates you, which is emphasized by the piano that makes you immerse in the song and the rhythm. Despite the music is not written by Rkomi, this inclusion isn't casual, as he confessed to Billboard Italy that he's learnt to play the piano during the pandemic. In the chorus, Rkomi is helped by the a-cappella-group Venice Vocal Jam, making the track a proper Arena or Stadium anthem, even in the studio version.

The guitar recalls Artic Monkeys (especially over minute three) and their project 'AM'. The lyrics, written by Rkomi and Italian songwriter, Mahmood, get closer to the Sheffield band talking about the love for a beautiful and , maybe, dangerous girl that plays with the rapper's heart. Rkomi falls for her and her beauty ('Le tue labbra sono chewing gum da masticare zitti' //'Your lips are like quiet chewing gum).

The track has its own 'Taxi Driver' visualizer (as the rest of the songs from the album), where Rkomi drives at night, alone in his taxi. Every track follows the aesthetics , the visual art of the album, creating its own universe in the taxi set.
