ÁLVARO SOLER GOES EDM IN 'SOLO PARA TI' (FEATURING TOPIC).

Some weeks ago, Spanish-German singer shared his new single, Solo Para Ti , featuring the German EDM-producer and Dj, Topic. The collaboration comes after the producer success in 2020 , who scored top 10 hits in almost every European country, like the UK, Germany or Belgium with Breaking me and the follow-up Your Love. 

Solo para ti is a simple dance song with some acoustic guitar arranges that remind us that Álvaro Soler is on the track. 

The lyrics are really generic and similar to other EDM songs (pretending to be personal but not that much)  and that's maybe the magic of it, the key that could make it work in the charts of many European countries.

Because his latest era, Magia,  hasn't made the same numbers as its predecessors (La Cintura and Sofía have more than 200 million streams on Spotify, while Magia, the lead-single and album title, hasn't reached 30 million yet, despite peaking on number 28 on the German Singles Chart, almost matching Sofía (which peaked on number 23). From this era, his biggest stability on the Spanish Singles Chart has come with A Contracorriente (ft. David bisbal), which has been 14 weeks on chart -and still remains- and is gold certified by PROMUSICAE, but is not included on the standard edition of the album. Another commercial attempt was the  featuring with  Colombian duet Cali Y El Dandee, that had more sexual references and seemed to be another- nothing special Latin-pop song, which could be easily performed by Luis Fonsi, Greeicy, Mike Bahía... 

Truth be told, the commercial strategy and even, aesthetics surrounding Álvaro Soler seem to be a little old - fashioned: The boho-backpacker-with the pastel Volkswagen van was cool around 2015, but right now, latin pop lives in other time, and, as I said, the commercial strategy doesn't seem to work anymore: Releasing a single, in April or March so it can be song of the summer and dropping an album every two years (three years separate Magia and Mar de Colores, the previos project, but I bet this is because of the pandemic). 

Solo para ti could open a new way to his career and a new genre to experiment with, a genre that lives a great moment in the UK or Europe (Belgium or Germany).

  Chrisitine and The Queens regresa con una nueva canción tras su álbum Paranoia, Angels & True Love y después de publicar en fin de año su excelente versión de Staying Alive de los Bee Gees -con algún verso de Night Fever - que ya interpretó en el Festival de Cannes de 2023.  El nuevo tema viene  por sorpresa y es cantado completamente en francés. Como ya dije en mi reseña de To Be Honest , Christine brilla en sus letras poéticas y existenciales y lo vuelve a hacer aquí, con la sencillez y autenticidad en la expresión del sentimiento por encontrar el amor y el refugio.   Siempre que Christine canta enteramente en francés, suele acompañar un sentimiento -con la excepción de su último disco, donde predomina el inglés- de intimidad, vulnerabilidad y delicadeza , como hizo en Chaleur Humaine , en las baladas de Chris y en   la mágica  Rien Dire .  El existencialismo se enfatiza en el puente

DON’T FORGET ME-MAGGIE ROGERS.

  La semana pasada se publicó el tercer disco de Maggie Rogers, Don’t Forget Me .   Para este tercer trabajo, Maggie abandona las guitarras rockeras, los sintetizadores y los agudos de Surrender para volver a sonidos más acústicos y diurnos. En Don’t Forget Me se deja el sonido nocturno y comprimido de la ciudad por el de banda sonora para los viajes de carretera de primavera-verano . Maggie Rogers se sitúa más próxima al single de 2019 , Love You For a Long Time , cuestionándose sobre el amor verdadero y abandonando la euforia del deseo de Surrender , reducido solamente a Drunk . Las reminiscencias a Kacey Musgraves -muy notables en el banjo de Sick Of Dreaming - en parte se deben al trabajo de Ian Fitchfuk, productor de muchas de las canciones de Golden Hour , también de Ghost de Sigrid , que figura como compositor de ocho de las diez canciones del disco, además de productor. THERAPIE TAXI SPLIT UP AFTER SEVEN YEARS.

 Just a year ago, Therapie taxi dropped their second album, titled 'Cadavre Exquis'. The project was the second chapter to their successful first record, 'Hit Sale'. The song with the same title peaked on number 18 on France singles chart. It featured Belgian rapper Romeo Elvis and the video has more than 70 million views on YouTube. They were shortlisted for a Victoires de la musique award.   Sometimes described as controversial, Therapie taxi explored almost every genre in popular music, from synth pop ('Candide Crush'), to acoustic classic French pop ('La Proue'), trap beats ('BB la nuit'), house music and French hip hop. They managed to have their own public trying out different genres, unafraid to get out of the standards and being in constant  experimentation.   But, luckily, they are releasing an EP before they say goodbye, which is out January the 8th.
