2021 GRAMMYS RECAP: THE GRAMMYS GET THE POP CATEGORIES RIGHT BUT SEEM BOGGED DOWN.

The Grammys ceremony was celebrated yesterday. Let's comment the winners list!

The first awards given were for the technical ones and for the minor genres. The first important award was Music video of the year, given to Beyoncé, WizKid and Blue Ivy's Brown Skin Girl. It was the first of the night for the Beyoncé and the first one for WizKid and Blue Ivy, included as writer of the song. Her participation is 'singing/talking' the chorus twice. She is the second youngest winner.

Beyoncé won 4 Grammys yesterday. With a total of 28 Grammys, she is crowned the vocalist with more grammys in history. It's funny how the Academy keeps on blessing her so hard when she and Jay-z have disregarded and mocked the awards. The same happens with Kanye, who won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Album. If Kanye tries, he can make fun of the Grammys again and win one  next year. For years, winning a grammy was the peak for an artist, who had worked so hard to get there and the artist was so honoured to be given such recognition, but now (only for certain artists) you can do whatever, even pee on an award and take home another one. 

The Academy have also awarded Beck with the Grammy for Best Engineered Album (non classical). It seems like they are awarding the same generation of artists they awarded in  the 2010s. Are we in 2011? In 2013?. Thanks to this, then there will be publications saying Beyoncé is the only female artist to have won a grammy in the past 3 decades and so on.

At least, this year Beyoncé decided to attend the ceremony to receive her awards.

The 3 other grammys she's received are for Savage, with Megan thee Stallion, who swept all the rap categories , and for Black Parade. Megan also received the award for Best New Artist from Billie Eilish, last year's winner. Billie took home 2 more Grammys: One for Best Song Written For Visual Media and the other one for Everything I wanted , who was proclaimed Record of The Year. This was a surprise. Even every FINNEAS' produced record is really good engineered, Everything I wanted felt so far from now and 2020.

Other awards that were given early in the night were the ones for country music. Dan and Shay and Justin Bieber won the grammy for Best country performance in a group or duo. Yes! What's country there!?. The Academy seems to be  enjoying boyfriend country a lot. At least we can say that, luckily, Justin didn't take home a grammy in the pop category for Yummy or his album. Miranda Lambert's Wildcard was chosen as Best country album, which is  a decent country record. The Highwomen were also awarded and John Prine too.

The only category where Grammys nailed it was pop. Harry Styles deserved his grammy for Best pop solo performance, Dua Lipa received the award for Best pop album and Ariana Grande & Lady Gaga's Rain On Me received the award for Best pop performance in a group or duo. The Academy got rid of the Trap-pop nominees and awarded authentic pop.

The two most important awards of the night, Song of The Year and Album Of The Year were given to H.E.R. and Taylot Swift's Folkclore respectively. I feel like giving Album Of the Year was a good option. There's been a truly evolution in Taylor's songwriting, which deserved to be regarded. Let's talk about H.E.R.'s I Can't Breathe. To give such an important award to this song... It inevitably feels political. The song is an answer after George Floyd's terrible death. The Academy stated a bet for the political issues in the nominations and so did yesterday, awarding Black Parade and I Can't Breathe. I enjoy H.E.R. , her voice, her own touch to R&B, but this feel like The Academy really wanted to take part in the conflict and instead of reserving it to the ceremony , it has done it with the awards.
