UK TOP 40 SINGLES CHART 26TH June 2020
As every Friday, a new Top 40 is announced and there are climbs, slopes and 2 new entries.
First, let's talk about Perfect''s ,by Ed Sheeran, return to the charts. It returned last week to the top 40 nearly three years after its video release! That is huge, really huge and it could possibly increase the whole album (Divide) listenings.
The two new entries are Midnight (The hanging tree) by Hosh &1979 ft JALJA, which has been circling over the charts for weeks and finally enters in nº34 and Burning by M Huncho ft. Dutchavelli on number 13.
The biggest fall is Nicki Minaj and 6ix9ine's TROLLZ which drops 19 places. This contrasts with TROLLZ reaching number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 after asking fans to buy the song multiple times to increase its position on the charts. On the other hand, the biggest climb is for Jason Derulo and Jawash 685's Savage Love . It has been only for two weeks in the charts and it is probably aiming for number one the following week. This a revival for Jason Derulo, who got his lasts top 40 hits with Tip Toe (2017). The track has experimented a big success on Tik Tok.
Before I get to talk about this week Top 10, here there are some highlights:
- Dua Lipa's Don't Start Now seems to be about to disappear of the top 40. Since its release in November and peaking on number 2, it has spent 34 weeks on the chart and 25 in the Top10 . That is really a milestone.
- Chicago Freestyle 's resurgence. It before peaked on number 10 and it is now going up little by little.
- Little Mix's Break Up Song fighting for stability .It peaked on number nine its first week and went down 10 places the following week. Since then, it remained some weeks on the top 20. We will see if it stays at top 30.
- ILY by Surf Mesa is slowly taking the charts . Maybe it gets top 20 next week. This is one of that songs that initially starts to be successful in European countries such Germany and France and then start to triumph in the UK like Topic's Breaking Me (reaching nº 3 in Germany).
- Ava Max is aiming for a top 20 next week with Kings & Queens.
- I Dunno, the Stormzy assisted track goes out of the top ten this week . We will see if next week it returns.
THIS WEEK TOP 10:
- In number 10 it is Secrets, the RAYE and Regard song, which peaked on number 8 just a few weeks ago. This is the return of RAYE to the charts , who got her last top 40 with Check (ft. Kojo Funds) and well, she earned her 5th top 40 with Europa's dance and party track Tequila.
- Number 9: 220 Kid (ft. Gracey)'s Don't Need Love, an EDM song that could actually continue climbing the following week .
- In number 8 it is Savage by Meghan Thee Stallion. It is weird that it does not appear the remix of the song with Beyoncé.
- Harry Styles scores another top 10 hit with Watermelon Sugar earning his forth.
- The AJ Tracey Top 10 goes down one place. Let's see if next week it recovers and goes back to Top 5.
- Number 5 : Rover . Last week it was aiming for number one . Now it descends to top 5.
- Number 4: Savage Love
- Topic's Breaking Me goes to top 3 and earns the same position as it did in Germany.
- Numbers 1 and 2 are exactly the same as last week . Rain On Me is on number two after peaking on number one a few weeks ago and Rockstar by Dababy and Roddy Rich stays a 6th week on number one. We will see if it remains again on number one next week!
